Case Study
Museums and galleries are a key element of the visitor attraction stock in Dublin, accounting for 38% of all visitor attractions. EPIC opened in 2016 in the Dublin Docklands and is a museum dedicated to telling the story of Irish emigration, and the impact of the Irish diaspora, around the world.
The museum experience is spread across 20 galleries with the experience provided through the use of digital technologies thus providing the visitor with an immersive and interactive journey through the history of Irish emigration.
In this case study, we explore the economic contribution and importance of the museum to the local community and the wider region. We discuss EPIC – The Irish Emigration Museum’s business outlook and their ambition to grow visitor numbers to reach 500,000 visitors by 2026. We delve into how the museum re-invests to innovate and enhance the experience and is adapting to reduce its carbon footprint.
