Recruitment and hiring
Embracing diversity and inclusion in the workplace often starts by developing more inclusive recruitment and hiring practices. Language and imagery in job postings and unrealistic and inflexible job descriptions can discourage individuals from applying to positions. Unconscious biases and a rigid adherence to narrow definitions around who is, and who is not a good fit for the company culture can penalise underrepresented groups during the hiring process. Businesses need to review their recruitment and hiring practices to ensure that they are tapping into 100% of the potential workforce, and to remove barriers to entry that prevent underrepresented groups from applying to job offerings.
