Welcome to the SFA Policy Briefing for Small Businesses | EU AI Act

In this meeting, SFA Public Affairs Lead, Jonathan McDade and Ibec Head of Digital Economy Policy, Erik O'Donovan, will be discussing EU's AI Act provisions on AI Literacy and banning Unacceptable Risk AI systems now in force.

Why this is important for you: EU Regulation 2024/1689 (the ‘AI Act’) establishes a uniform legal framework for the development, the placing on the market, the putting into service, and the use of artificial intelligence systems (AI systems) within the Union. The purpose of the EU AI Act is to regulate AI technologies and protect fundamental rights. The AI Act entered into force on 1 August 2024, with its rules being introduced on a staggered basis. The first two chapters of the AI Act became applicable on 2 February 2025.

After a brief presentation, Q&A session will follow.

This meeting is for SFA Members only.
