European Commission Consultation
The European Commission is preparing a Strategy for Start-ups and Scale-ups, as a flagship action under the Competitiveness Compass. This initiative will be a Communication and is scheduled for Q2 2025. A “call for evidence” on the ‘Have your Say’ Portal of the Commission, which you can find HERE and the consultation will be open until 17 March 2025. The three key questions that the Commission is asking SMEs are as follows:
1 - To you agree with the following hurdles faced by startups and/or scaleups?
- Access to finance
- Regulatory & bureaucratic burdens & fragmentation
- Access to markets
- Access to talent
- Access to infrastructure, knowledge & services
2 - Are there any additional hurdles faced by startups and/or scaleups?
3 - What actions do you think the EU and/or its Member States should take to address these hurdles?
Please note that the SFA will be providing its own feedback on this initiative. Its position will align with its recent General Election manifesto.
