What we do
The best innovation ecosystems support blue sky and fundamental research alongside innovation development and commercialisation. Investment in innovation and knowledge development is key to driving sustainable economic growth for Ireland.
Our aim is to drive innovation at the business level, build the skills base and maximise the return on R&D investment for economic and social progress. Ibec works with member organisations to ensure that the appropriate supports and structures are in place to boost Ireland’s capacity for innovation. To do this, we campaign to increase public and private investment in research and innovation and to create links between R&D intensive business with government, funding agencies and researchers with an emphasis on greater industry-education engagement to develop the ideas and skills of the future.
Digital technology is transforming how businesses operate along with wider society. Ibec’s network brings together organisations to build awareness of the opportunities presented by the digital economy; promote better regulation and policy coherence to embrace digital opportunities securely; and build capacities for a globally competitive digital economy in Ireland including digital skills, entrepreneurship, innovation and investment in digital technology and infrastructure.
