EU Trade Strategy

In 2020 Drinks Ireland|Irish Whiskey made a comprehensive submission on behalf of the Irish whiskey industry to the European Commission as part of its trade policy review. Following this review, the European Commission published a new EU Trade Strategy in February 2021. The strategy contains commitments on a number of issues which we addressed in our submission:

• Strengthening partnership with the US
• Digital trade/ e-commerce
• Stronger and effective enforcement
• Support for SMEs
• Deepened engagement with Africa
