Our Council

The Irish Whiskey Association is the representative voice within Drinks Ireland for the Irish Whiskey industry. In order to be a member you must be a member of Drinks Ireland. Drinks Ireland members are then eligible to become part of any of the category associations that are relevant to its operations. Membership is only available to paid up subscribers.

The work of the Irish Whiskey Association is guided and overseen by a Council comprising representatives of all member companies. The council operates on a one-member-one-vote model ensuring equality between all members large and small. This is central to the strong spirit of collegiality which underpins the work of the association.

The Chairman of the Irish Whiskey Association is James Doherty, Managing Director of Sliabh Liag. 

The Vice-Chairman is Helen Mulholland, Master Blender at Sazerac of Ireland / Lough Gill Distillery. 

The association has a strong and very active network of committees which allows members to have direct input into the planning and implementation of the association’s various work strands.
