As organisations adapt to an ever-changing world, many are altering the structure by which they operate. To keep pace with increasing digitalisation and globalisation, some companies are adopting the Global Business Services (GBS) model, an organisational model where services are provided to the entire organisation through centralised, standardised processes with the aim of improved organisational performance.
Many BioPharma companies operating in Ireland have GBS units but may use different terminology such as "Global Capabilities" or "Shared Services". The current GBS sector in Ireland is not well defined and so does not yet have a collective voice. The opportunity to promote Ireland as a location for GBS has been identified as a strategic pillar in BPCI’s Strategy “Mark Ireland a Global Leader in Sustainable Manufacturing” 2023-2027
The aim of our upcoming workshop is to reach a consensus on the current GBS landscape in Ireland, and to identify what can be done to support, strengthen and grow the sector. All attendees will be asked to discuss how they fit into the ecosystem, and to contribute to ongoing work.
