While working within the context of best practice industrial safety procedures, this programme equips the learner with the knowledge, skills, and competence to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in an automated manufacturing environment.
Learners become familiar with the as-designed working state and common faulty behaviours of a broad range of automated equipment including electrical power and control equipment, pneumatic and vacuum technology, Sensors and Vision, Programmable Control and Robotics. Most importantly, the trainers embed a repeatable and effective universal troubleshooting strategy to fault find efficiently. As a result, learners gain a deep understanding of technology through targeted hands-on learning activities.
Duration:
All eight modules run over a 12/16-month time frame and each learner can take in the order that matches their schedules. Each module requires 5-6 days of face-to-face training with additional directed online learning. Most modules run two -three days each week over two-three consecutive weeks. Some modules have project assessments and time will be built in between modules to complete projects. We operate a continuous intake policy and there are multiple entry points for this advanced certificate.
Modules include:
- Machine safety and hazardous energy
- Electrical safety, circuitry and troubleshooting
- Process improvement and collaboration
- Digital, analog and vision sensors
- Pneumatics and vacuum systems
- Programmable Logic Controllers
- Robot programming and t-shooting
- Electrical t-shooting of machine systems
Each module is learner-centric, hands-on and benefits from unique mobile training kits and/or factory simulation software. Competence and confidence grow in alignment with noticeable results for this high-impact learning experience. Modules are scheduled regularly in Dublin and Cork and are available on-demand for in-company delivery.
Qualified engineers enjoy this course to amplify their practical skills while the technically-experienced learners benefit from adoption of a scientific method and a new skills pathway to third level.
The Engineering Skillnet is co-funded by Skillnet Ireland and member companies.
