Fergal O'Brien Ibec’s Executive Director of Lobbying and Influence

Fergal O'Brien is Ibec’s Executive Director of Lobbying and Influence. He leads and coordinates the organisation’s activity across a range of business policy issues and public affairs activity. He represents Irish business on a number of fora at both national and EU level and is currently a member of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council and a council member of the Foundation for Fiscal Studies. Fergal is a regular commentator on the economy and domestic and international policy issues.

Prior to joining Ibec in 2005, Fergal worked for 5 years as an Economic Consultant with Fitzpatrick Associates, where he delivered a large number of consultancy assignments for a range of public and private sector clients. He also worked as an economist with the Irish Dairy Board. Fergal holds his primary and masters degrees from the University of Limerick.

Leo Clancy
Leo Clancy Chief Executive Officer - Enterprise Ireland

Leo Clancy is the Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Ireland, the State Agency that helps Irish companies to start, scale and grow globally. Enterprise Ireland is a major investor in Irish funds and in startup companies.
Before being appointed as CEO of Enterprise Ireland, Leo was a member of the Executive Committee and led the Technology sector at IDA Ireland, the State agency for Foreign Direct Investment.
Leo spent most of his career in the telecommunications industry in engineering and leadership roles.
Leo is a graduate of the Dublin Institute of Technology and is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland.

Mary Buckley
Mary Buckley Executive Director, IDA

Mary served as Interim CEO from October 2022 to April 2023 inclusive and then reverted to her role as Executive Director which she held since 2015. Prior to that, she was Divisional Manager covering regional development, property and corporate operations overseeing the implementation of the IDA’s regional development and property strategies. In this role she was also Head of HR & OD and oversaw the finance and corporate governance functions for the organisation. From 2006 to 2010 inclusive, Mary was Director of the IDA’s North American operations, leading the team in winning investments across all business sectors. Prior to her relocation to New York, Mary was Director, South Region based in Cork. A key priority for Mary is the successful execution of IDA Ireland’s strategy “Driving Recovery and Sustainable Growth 2021-2024’
