Eilish is an independent Lean and Operational Excellence Consultant and is also the Director for Europe of SISU Consulting Group. She is experienced in business delivery, organizational change in particular cultural change, including both design and implementation. Her focus is on ensuring the sustainability of improvements by securing real “buy-in” and ownership at all levels of the client business from the frontline to senior management.
She has extensive experience of working across multiple sectors including many branches of Manufacturing - Semi-Conductors; Pharma; Medical Devices; Food and Beverages. Other sectors include Financial Services; Healthcare and Public Sector. In 2004 she was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her work in leading cultural change programs in the UK public sector.
She is a Shingo Examiner and is highly experienced in assessing organizations against the Shingo Enterprise Excellence frameworks. She has worked closely with many client organizations to support them in developing their own assessment frameworks and to develop their teams of internal assessors. She was the first Shingo global coach and facilitator appointed in Europe, and over the past 14 years she has directly supported 40 organizations to achieve all levels of Shingo recognition. In particular, she has supported 13 out of the 20 most recent Shingo Prize recipients. In 2022 she was inducted into the highly prestigious Shingo Academy.
David McKernan is Director of Operations and Supply chain in Veryan Medical. David has 30 years’ experience in industry and health care. Previously worked with Teleflex Medical, Boston Scientific and Bio Medical Research in site leadership and operations roles.
Previously as Director of Advance Manufacturing, in Teleflex Medical David lead the enterprise excellence program across 15 international sites shaping the site strategy and continuous improvement framework.
David has chaired the Irish Med Tech enterprise excellence group. David has a degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering, an MBA through the open university. He is a certified project manager through the PMI and six sigma black belt certified.
David is a strong believer in engaging people to deliver sustainable results.
Maria Ryan, Managing Director of Crystal Lean Solutions, has over 25 years’ experience in Lean deployment across sectors including Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Engineering, Software, Healthcare and Construction organisations. She has worked in companies including Honeywell and Johnson and Johnson and holds an engineering degree, Corporate Masters in Business and is a Black Belt. Maria’s main areas of interest is supporting people to help make their jobs easier, while systematically delivering business objectives. A strong advocate of processes, key areas that Maria has supported customers with include implementation of Tiered Management Systems, Data Management Systems, Change Management, Lean Assessments, Business Transformation with the MÓR Lean Model, Leadership development and facilitation of teams. Maria also enjoys Lean training and mentoring of projects, with examples including set up reduction, scrap reduction, visual management, digital solutions, and ERP deployment.

Seán has a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and is a lean six sigma black belt and Shingo Prize Examiner with 26 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry (Abbott, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Elan Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline). His technical and operational leadership experience spans medical device and drug substance manufacturing, drug product development and drug discovery research & development.
Prior to moving to a divisional role, Seán, was the Business Excellence Manager at Abbott Diagnostic Longford, a 2016 Shingo Prize recipient. Seán led the site's operational excellence transformation and focused on creating a culture where principles of operational excellence are deeply embedded into the thinking and behaviour of all leaders, managers, and employees. Under Seán’s leadership, Abbott Diagnostic Longford also received the National Business Excellence Award from Irish Centre for Business Excellence (ICBE) in 2015, the 2015 Irish Medical Technology Company of the Year and the 2017 International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) Facility of the Year Award for Operational Excellence.
Seán has been recognised by the Shingo Institute as a Shingo Examiner and Alumni. In his current role Sean has developed the Abbott Diagnostic Division’s Pinnacle Operational Excellence assessment model. This is a world-class operational excellence framework that blends Shingo, Class A and doing it right principles and is anchored by Abbott’s core competencies.
