The Level 7 Award in "Quality Technology for Engineering Industries" gives participants a sense of mastery in using statistical techniques for day-to-day process optimisation. Learners gain an understanding of fundamental quality principles and become autonomous to select and apply an array of useful data analytics tools and statistics for the purpose of continuous improvement.

Course content is integrated with real-world data to problem-solve for their own workplace. This blend of expert tuition, practical tasks, and self-directed learning ensures a ‘high impact learning’ experience. The course is entirely on-line so easy to fit around busy work schedules with self-paced content and evening class tuition.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course learners can:

-          Undertake production-related quality tasks such as selecting, using, and evaluating common measurement and test equipment (M&TE)

-          Use project management tools including Gantt charts

-          Model and manage process input and output variables

-          Apply statistical tools and industry software (Minitab) for data-driven process improvement.

Course Structure

This programme is run over 12 weeks, consisting of 3 virtual classroom days (Saturdays) and 9 tutorials (1 hour on a weekday evening).

Ø  Live, virtual tutorials and classroom days (tutorials & classroom days are recorded)

Ø  Self-paced learning resources

Benefits to Participating Companies

With the drive for competitiveness and an increased compliance burden, manufacturing/engineering companies depend on data-savvy employees capable of identifying non-value-add activities.

Ø  Externally accredited QQI Level 7 (accredited by the University of Limerick)

Ø  Increased understanding and application of quality principles and data tools for process improvement, increased technical competence, data and digital literacy

Ø  Bespoke programme elements to meet manufacturing needs

Ø  Adds to regulatory readiness

Ø  Work based data analysis assignments

Ø  Learners should be fully prepared to sit, and successfully achieve, the ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) and the Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) accreditation on completion of this programme.
