Bereavement

Grief is a normal, albeit difficult, part of life. People who are bereaved may need different types of support including in the workplace, and support from an employer and colleagues can be an important part of that process. However, every individual will experience grief and deal with their loss in their own way. Some will want to talk about their experience while others may prefer to avoid such conversations, both are appropriate and need to be respected and sensitivity to individual needs is key. A workplace that proactively supports bereaved employees helps them to come to terms with their loss and supports their re-engagement with work.
